Ultralight Flight in Nepal
Ultralight Flight Aircraft is another medium to observe the full spectrum of the magnificient Pokhara valley along with mountain peaks and lakes at the same time. Ultralight is a very light aircraft that has no window and seating for only two persons, a pilot and a passenger. Powered by engines, these aircraft can reach very close to the mountain peaks. Because of their ability to get so close to the mountains, tourists love the experience of flying on these small machines. Foreigners generally fly on these aircrafts to have a close look at the mountains while Nepalis take a ride mostly for the experience. Professional ultralight flights started in Nepal in 1997 and are claimed to be the first in South Asia. Early autumn to early spring is considered the best season for Ultralight flight.
The aircraft take off from Pokhara and offer spectacular views of the lakes, mountains and villages. This area has a unique blend of both mountain and plateau area. While flying over the Pokhara valley, you will not miss the scenic beauty of both the Himalayas and the most famous lake of Nepal, Phewa Tal. The flight will be a journey through nature. This is truly a unique experience, and an ideal way to see life from a new perspective. Flights are from Pokhara airport beginning September through June. The flights take place from sunrise to 11 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to sunset every day during these months.
