Mt. Nirekha peak (6,069 m./19,911 ft)

Nirekha peak is located in the same chain as the Lobuche summits, just East of the Cho La Col (not to be confused with the famous Cho La pass that is only a few hundred meters away). The peak is in the list of the new NMA 'A' trekking peaks. The normal ascent to the Nirekha Peak is a great and - depending on the conditions - difficult climb. Only experienced climbers should attempt this route, though it is partially saved with fixed ropes. The summit consists of two summit pyramids. It is unclear which one is higher. Clearly the North summit is easier, but requires to cross a difficult crevasse, while the South summit requires one pitch in steep (50°) ice. The first ascent was done by Matt Fioretti and Greg Valentine in April 2003. The second ascent was done by an all women team in October 2003

Day 03: Flight to Lukla and immediately trek to Phakding.
Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazar
Day 05: Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar and little hike.
Day 06: Trek to Dole.
Day 07: Trek to Machermo.
Day 08: Trek to Gokyo Ri
Day 09: Trek to Gokyo RI and back to Gokyo.
Day 10: Trek to Thangna.
Day 11: Trek to Nirekha Base Camp.
Day 12: Acclimatization and preparation day at Nirekha Base camp.
Day 13: Trek to High Camp.
Day 14: Summit (6169m)Nirekha peak and return to Base Camp.
Day 15: Trek to Zongla via crossing Cho La Pass
Day 16: Trek to Gorakhshep.
Day 17: Trek to Kalapather and return to Labuche.
